Standing Tall: The Wichita Public Library's 22nd Annual African-American History Month Celebration
Storyteller Diane Ferlatte kicks off the Library's African-American History Month Celebration with a series of all ages performances and a special workshop for parents, teachers and all who share stories for audiences big and small. Ferlatte has received numerous accolades, including a Grammy nomination, Parent's Choice awards, and World Storyteller awards. From Austria to Botswana, from Hawaii to New Zealand, Ferlatte has performed all over the world.

Have I Got a Story To Tell!
Storyteller Diane Ferlatte shares a variety of tales from her repertoire including Brer Rabbit stories, tales of African-American struggles, and personal stories with excitement and inspiration for young and old. (60 minutes)

Wickety Whack: Brer Rabbit is Back!
Storyteller Diane Ferlatte will share well-loved tales of that famous trickster, Brer Rabbit, for children ages 3 and up. (45-60 minutes)

Bringing Stories to Life: A Storytelling Workshop
This workshop is for anyone interested in exploring ways to add life to your stories, whether you’re telling them to one person or 100. Discover the power of a well-told story through small group exercises, presentations, and examples from Diane Ferlatte’s own stories. Get in touch with the whole story through movement, gestures, voice, facial expression, emotions, and characterization. You don´t have to be an actor to be a good storyteller. You only need an imagination. Registration required; call 688-9580. (2 hours)

Senior Wednesday: Tuskegee Airmen
Learn more about the African American pilots who flew with distinction in World War II. Colonel George Boyd will discuss their history and achievements. Offered in cooperation with nine other cultural institutions in Wichita, Senior Wednesdays are designed for active seniors and made possible by the Kansas Health Foundation, a private philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the health of all Kansans.
