Book Discussions

New members are always welcome for the monthly book discussions held at the library September-June: 2^nd Tuesday @ 2:00pm and 3^rd Monday @ 7:00 pm.  Our meeting dates for February are:

Adult Winter Reading: Warm up with the Classics

Starting December 1st: Choose a good book and settle in to read this winter! Join our adult winter reading club, Warm up with the Classics and earn warm prizes for reading. Readers can register at the adult reference desk or online. The theme is Warm up with the Classics, so we encourage you to try some classics that you may have never read, but you can read anything you like and still participate!

Second Sunday Concert Series

Big Band Memories

"Big Band Memories" is a highly interactive program presented by veteran trumpet player Bill Hart. Hart who toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, shares memories of 50+ years performing with famous musicians. Join Bill for stories, anecdotes, trivia, name that tune, "Can you stump the Trumpet Player?" and some great music!

Learn tools to find the jobs that aren't posted on the internet, and how to target the companies you want to work for. Learn what employers are looking for, how to get your resume reviewed, how to give your best interview, what types of questions to expect and what makes a candidtae get the job.

Financial Fusion: Michigan Council on Economic Development

The Michigan Council on Economic Development will present this unique seminar in personal finance that goes beyond typical financial planning, designed to show attebdees how to define their values and use them as the foundation on which to build their financial plan.

Film Discussion Series: "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Movies (But Were Afraid To Ask)"

Join Seth Culp, film enthusiast and historian, for an informative discussion of movies and their historical, technical, and sociological impact. A different film will be shown each week. Computers for Beginners

Learn some basic computer terminology, how to use a keyboard and mouse, and how to begin navigating through Windows XP.

Monday, February 1st @ 10am

The Internet for Beginners

Learn what programs to use, what all those menus and buttons do, how to navigate from site to site, and some basic Internet terminology.

Monday, February 8th @ 10am

Email for Beginners

Learn how to set up and access a free account, send and receive messages, set up an address book, use attachments, organize your inbox using folders, and anything else you want to know. If you don’t have an account, plan on arriving a few minutes early in order to set one up. If you already have an account, make sure you know your provider, user name and password.

Digital Photos for Beginners

Learn how to transfer photos from your camera to your Windows computer, how to organize them, and how to do some simple photo editing. This is a hands on class so be sure to bring your camera and any cables that came along with it.

Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007:

Learn the basics of creating, formatting and editing a simple document using Microsoft Word.

Tuesday, February 23rd @ 2pm

Introduction to spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel 2007:

Learn the basics of what spreadsheets are and how to create and use them using Microsoft Excel.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2007:

Learn how to create and run a simple presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint.
